Virginia Graeme Baker Pool and Spa Safety Act

Within the past two decades there have been numerous documented incidents and deaths caused by Entrapment in swimming pools and spas. The 2007 Virginia Graeme Baker Pool and Spa Safety Act (VGB) promotes the safe use of pools and spas by imposing federal regulations for suction drain entrapment.

The VGB states that on or before December 19, 2008, all public swimming pools and spa must meet specific performance requirements. Single drain installations, public swimming pools and spas MUST have additional secondary devices or systems designed to prevent suction entrapment.

Pools and spas not compliant must close until compliant. The fine is $1.8 million for injury in a non compliant pool or spa. Don't hesitate! This is a federal law enforced nation wide.

Accurate Pool and Spa Services has been in close contact with the Southern Nevada Health District on this issue and have learned that there are only three inspectors trained to inspect re-models to become compliant. Accurate Pool and Spa Services is one of the few licensed to do the work and pull the proper permits.
